Colin Hunter

Solicitor


Colin has experience in a variety of legal areas, particularly marine, professional indemnity and legal research. He is regularly involved in supporting litigation, negotiation of settlements and legal research.

Colin has completed Honours degrees in both Law and Music. He joined McElroys in 2016 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in the same year. Colin is a member of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (MLAANZ).

Principal areas of practice:


  • Cargo and transport – carriage of goods (domestic and international), bailment, carriers’ liability, subrogated cargo recoveries
  • International trade – international sale of goods, aircraft leasing, conflict of laws
  • Marine Insurance – cargo, hull & machinery, repairers
    Professional Indemnity – real estate agents, architects, directors, accountants
  • General and liability – material damage, subrogated recoveries
