Ellie specialises in health and safety law, regularly defending clients who are investigated in respect of serious workplace accidents or deaths.  She also defends general civil and professional indemnity claims against company directors, financial advisors, lawyers and real estate agents.  She also acts on public liability claims, particularly fire damage claims.  In the education field, Ellie advises insurers on policy response for employment & education related claims, provides advice to school boards, charitable trusts and other employers on disciplinary and performance processes and defence of personal grievances, official information, privacy issues and judicial review.

With a background in criminal law, Ellie assists clients with legal issues arising from Coronial inquests and staff members facing criminal proceedings, including obtaining suppression orders for the protection of the school community.

  • Numerous successful appeals on behalf of real estate agents against decisions of the Complaints Assessment Committee.
  • Excellent results in obtaining identity suppression for schools whose staff members are involved in criminal proceedings.
