Mat Martin
Senior Associate
Mat is a civil and commercial litigator who commenced practice in 2014. Before joining McElroys he worked at a leading national law firm, where he acted in a range of general civil and commercial litigation matters, specialising in insolvency disputes.
Mat has a wide background in general litigation, across a range of different areas of law and subject matters. This has included acting in disputes involving insolvency, finance, construction, contract, shareholder, and property-related matters.
He is an accomplished advocate, regularly appearing in the High Court and District Court as both sole counsel and junior counsel. He is also experienced in appearing at arbitrations and mediations, along with other alternative dispute resolution forums.
While Mat enjoys the cut and thrust of the litigation process, he takes a pragmatic view on disputes, seeking to achieve the best possible outcome for clients in as quick and efficient a manner as possible. He is a safe pair of hands, and can be relied on to give good, common-sense advice in the circumstances.
Outside of work, Mat enjoys hiking, biking, surfing, fishing, and generally anything in the great outdoors. He also enjoys fine wine and great food shared with friends and family.
