Intermediate Solicitor / Associate

McElroys is looking to recruit a talented intermediate solicitor or associate with 4 - 8 years PQE in civil litigation with an employment focus, to join our close-knit team.

McElroys are experts in insurance, civil, maritime and employment litigation. We provide legal representation helping the New Zealand business community navigate risk and resolve complex litigation.

We have been solving our client’s legal problems for over three decades. In that time we’ve been called upon by both global and national clients to help them navigate risk and resolve a broad range of litigation challenges including professional negligence, earthquake & fire damage disputes, employment disputes and regulatory actions.

About our Role

You will work closely with our partners, with an opportunity to take the next step in your career by honing your advocacy and technical skills and developing client relationships.

You will be working on a wide range of civil litigation and employment disputes with key duties including:

  • Forming strong relationships with clients
  • Analysing information to identify and solve client’s legal problems
  • Preparing high-quality legal advice, client reporting, correspondence and court documents
  • Representing clients in ADR, Tribunals and Courts
  • Playing an active role in negotiations to achieve smart, pragmatic outcomes
  • Managing files end-to-end to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes
  • Working closely with partners
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members, and develop your own leadership style

Experience in employment law and insurance law will be a distinct advantage.
